• aisle spacing
• recessional timing
• whether you’re doing a dip or straight exit
• where important people will stand

It’s also where I learn your venue.

Especially if it’s a location I’ve never photographed before.

I’m watching:

• lighting direction
• sunset timing
• dark areas
• ceremony shadows
• sound setup
• backup weather plans

All of that preparation means fewer interruptions for you later.

Why Ceremony Lighting Matters More Than Most Couples Realize

This is something almost nobody talks about.

But lighting can completely change how your ceremony photos and video feel.

At rehearsals, I sometimes notice:

• harsh overhead sunlight
• deep shadows across faces
• uneven lighting
• difficult ceremony orientation

And often? Small adjustments make a huge difference.

Sometimes shifting the ceremony by even 20–30 minutes creates softer, more flattering light.

Sometimes simply changing the direction of the ceremony avoids squinting and harsh shadows.

These are the little things couples usually don’t know to look for.

But they matter.

The biggest benefit of rehearsal attendance isn’t actually for me.
