As I venture into the wedding planning for our wedding along with being in the industry for 13 years now, I know the importance of reducing wedding stress. So here I am creating content to try to help you through this process, even if we aren't a great fit for eachother I'm happy for you and excited to help in any way I can.
Congratulations! You’ve decided to let go of the pressure from the wedding industry or even from friends and family and plan an adventurous day for just the two of you, or even with a few friends in tow.
Once couples decide to elope the possibilities seem endless with where, what to do, who to bring. This is the best part of elopements is that there are no rules, no traditions to follow. It can be simple and laid back or a day full of all the things you love to do together.
This guide will help you plan out where you should elope and how to pick the perfect place.
Figure Out Your Budget
This is the first step. Be realistic about what you can afford to do. This day can be as simple or as luxurious as you want it to be. Talk openly about your finances and what is worth investing into your day together as a couple. For a more in depth breakdown of how much an elopement costs check out this guide HERE.
Are You Inviting Guests
Some couples truly want a day to just themselves while others want a few people there. This is totally up to you however it will impact your budget and possibly limit some of your location ideas. Some guests may have accessibility needs, while others such as your four legged friends may not be permitted in some areas.
Dream It Up Together
Write down a list of all the things you both want to see, do and experience together on your elopement today. It can be as crazy and wild as your imagination (and budget) will allow you. Then compile a list of priorities that you both want to have.
Go over any meaningful locations that either of you have. It can be where he proposed, a favourite place you have never been but always dreamed of going.
How far are you willing to travel to elope? Is it in your budget to go overseas? Do you want it to be within 2 hours from home? Discuss these options.
If you have a date in mind plan around that. If it is middle of tourist season in the mountains in the summer be flexible on your locations as they may be busy with tourists all around.
Talk about what the views you want to have in your scenic elopement photographs. What view do you want to share as you exchange vows. Is it a mountain top? Waterfall? Desert? A Lake? The Amalifi Coast in Italy? Narrow down the landscapes.
What will you do together that day? Do you have a hobby you both enjoy doing together that you can tie into that day? The adventure you share doesn’t have to be high adrenaline or mountain hiking. It can be stargazing at night, a picnic watching the sunset, a day at a spa. For more ideas of what fun things you can incorporate into your elopement day check out this post HERE!
