With the 3-week mark creeping up on us fast I thought I would update everyone on what it has truly been like so far here for us in Mexico. I’ll try to keep it short and sweet as best as I can!

• I overpacked… big time! I live in my bathing suit 12 hours of the day so why did I even think to pack more jeans than shorts! For real… I was cold when I packed and obviously forgot where I was going. The kids are in the same boat… too many clothes that they won’t wear. So I will be donating the things we don’t need here. I am glad we did bring along our own beach towels and a few Tupperware containers (most random items right!?).
• The food has been amazing. We have found some amazing little spots within blocks of our place here are our favorites:

           Karen’s Beach Bar: An amazing variety from tacos to ribs to burgers. We call it the banana split place because they were our favorite dessert there!

               Chin-gon: This sounds crazy but the Thai food here is AMAZING!!!! This place is a must do if you are in the area and looking for a break from tacos. We love the Hoisin Beef! If you are wondering about the name… it actually means “something extremely awesome” or as some have told us it means “fu*$ing awesome”.

                La-Negra: This adorable little place is found hidden under a gorgeous lit tree in the evenings. We have tried every taco on their menu and they are all so delicious! If you are looking for a quaint little spot with some Mexican charm this is it. We call it the cheesecake place because they have the BEST cheesecake I have ever had (if you know me you know I eat a lot of it).

• I have learned to put things in ziplock bags or containers after our adorable, friendly little neighborhood gecko decided to sneak into a box of cereal and come pouring out as I was getting Marlee some breakfast… the scream should have been heard across the country! I’m glad it was just a gecko, not anything else!
• The girls have been homesick (totally normal right??). Marlee getting an ear infection after the first week made for a few lazy days and its the busy days that make it easier for them so that was tough. We have done lots to keep busy: waterslides, surfing, parasailing, beach days, ziplining and meeting up to trick or treat with other kids. I will admit it was hard to just not pull the plug and head home after the first week! It is an adjustment and they are giving it their best! We had tons of laughs yesterday meeting new friends and are so excited for when the inflatable floating obstacle course opens up next week!
• I love hot weather but when you are not in a resort with endless AC you need to suck it up and sweat it out a bit… literally! Having a pool helps and laying in it all day has really helped speed up my new tan too.
• The girls have used more Spanish than me which is exciting that they are totally interested in it. I plan to make use of our time here and have them learn as much as they can. They are adjusting more to their homeschool and we are getting our minds wrapped around it all a lot more now that we are settled and can get into a routine.

Not much else to report as we have slowed ourselves down to allow time to adjust to our new surroundings. We have lots of things we want to check off our list in the next few weeks! I need to take my camera out more now that I am looking at going on 3 weeks with less than 60 photos taken!!!
