As I venture into the wedding planning for our wedding along with being in the industry for 13 years now, I know the importance of reducing wedding stress. So here I am creating content to try to help you through this process, even if we aren't a great fit for eachother I'm happy for you and excited to help in any way I can.
Did you just get engaged and are trying to find the perfect intimate destination wedding resort that will accommodate your family but not be too large that guests get lost around it? Look no further… Las Palmas Huatulco is the perfect spot.
One of the best parts about Las Palmas is that when you are there for your wedding the entire resort is included and no other guests will be there! This also means they only have 1 wedding at a time so you get the full attention of their planners and decorators to fully accommodate you to plan the wedding of your dreams! If you think that is awesome sounding wait until you see the villas and casitas!
I had the opportunity to visit this resort and take some photos while ask questions about their destination wedding services so that I could write this informative blog post just for you!
First a little bit about Huatulco as nobody ever knows it exists when I tell them about where we are going. This is my fifth time in Huatulco over the last 5 years and I can in all honesty say it is my favorite place. Every time we fly here the people we talk to on the plane have been here anywhere from 3-15 times! The people here are so incredibly welcoming and friendly. This place hasn’t and won’t be the next Cancun, it is in a green zone that protects the land so that it won’t be bulldozed and turned into massive resort city. So if you are looking for a loud, busy Vegas type spot this isn’t it. I would more relate this place to the Hawaii of Mexico without the cost and the best fish tacos. With 9 incredible bays to explore and the amazing rainforest to trek this place has so much to do! There are some incredible spots to surf, the beaches range from calm to rough depending on what bay you are swimming at. I’ll post more about the activities in another post though, you came here to read about this amazing wedding resort!
Las Palmas can sleep up to 50 guests and is full of Mexican charm along with the best sunset views in all of Huatulco. Children are welcome here as well and they have the most adorable little suites for kids! It is made up of:
3 Villas – 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath suites with private infinity pools each
5 Casitas – 5 bedroom suites with large kitchens and private infinity pools
6 rooftop terraces with incredible views of the ocean and mountains.
Walk down the stairs to the semi-private beach with some incredible snorkelling! This beach is only (at present time) accessible by stairs from the resort, a dirt path from another property or by boat. It isn’t full of tourists so you won’t be fighting for a good spot.. you will likely have the entire beach to you and your guests!
Now you probably just read… kitchen and thought there is no way I am making my own food… well don’t panic! They have a chef you can hire to do all that for you or if you have some awesome cooks in the family they can just go do the grocery shopping for you at a very affordable rate. You can hire a bartender if you wish as well or again send someone on a beer run the alcohol at the Super Che store is cheap!
I think my favorite thing I was told while I was there was that when you have your wedding reception there is no closing time! If you have ever been to a destination wedding then you have heard a bride tell you that they can only have the reception go until 10 or 11 at the latest well not here especially since this place is secluded on a hilltop (with the best sunrise and sunset views in all of Huatulco), there are no other guests you need to worry about disturbing, no neighbouring hotels… just you and your closest family and friends.
Now if you have more than 50 guests the others will need to stay at another resort (if they want to be close I would suggest the Binniguenda it is small and quaint, it isn’t beachfront but within a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous beach). There is no charge for guests to come onto the resort from the others (just for extra food) which is a bonus and a headache saver as coming to another resort for a wedding when you stay at another one can get a bit frustrating sometimes (I have been there!).
This all sounds great so far and now you are probably thinking this will cost you a fortune… it honestly is quite affordable if you have a nice large group or a decent wedding budget. The resort is rented out at either a nightly or a weekly rate so that’s one rate that you can pass on that your guests pitch in for. Flights to Huatulco can be found very cheap ($500-700 cdn return sometimes even less if you don’t mind going through a few airports). For the most current rate at the resort I suggest you contact them directly at: http://www.laspalmashuatulco.com/ or email: courtney@LasPalmasHuatulco.com.
