Elopements can be more than a quick ceremony and ring exchanges… in fact it should be much more than that! Eloping is being intentional about the way you get married. It is a day entirely significant to who you are as a couple. I believe there is much more to do than just the ceremony. You deserve to have the entire day to enjoy the experience and that doesn’t mean you need to be in your wedding attire all day either!

Here are some ideas of what you can do to make your day an exciting, memorable adventure.

Stay in a Cabin

In BC and Alberta we are spoiled with incredible views that people travel from all around the world to see. Why not find a cabin 15 minutes away from it all to get ready in, have your ceremony at or as you evening space to enjoy your first married sunset together as you roast hot dogs over the fire.

Elope at Sunrise

Yeah you read that right and I know we have EARLY sunrises in the summer months here in Alberta but you know what I’m all for it! If you’re a morning adventurous couple why not head out before that sun comes up and say your vows as those magical sunrise colours hit the sky and light it up in its true cotton candy colours. Imagine the sunlight beaming off the mountain ridge in total privacy with some of the best views around.

Kayak or Paddleboard Sunset

If you are water lovers why not celebrate your post ceremony with a sunset picnic on the water doing what you love?

Helicopter Tours

The Canadian Rocky Mountains have some incredible views and maybe you aren’t avid hikers or you want to go to a spot that is only accessible by helicopter to avoid daytime crowds of tourists and enjoy some breathtaking views.

Hiking

Maybe you don’t want to say your vows at the mountain top but you want to take a hike to enjoy that first sunset together. Stay the night at the top, star gaze.

Winter Fun

Perhaps you are winter lovers and love to ski. Hit the slopes then enjoy some hot chocolate by a fire at a place rented on a ski hill in Canmore, Banff, Jasper or even Whistler!

International Sight Seeing

Perhaps you want to elope overseas and spend the day taking in some sightseeing together or in Italy and take a pasta making class that evening enjoying wine together overlooking the Pantheon in Rome.
